What is laminate?
Mimicking the look of real wood, tile, or
stone, laminates have a sandwich-like four-layer
construction consisting of a wear layer on top,
followed by a decorative sheet that contains the
printed image, then a rigid core-usually
fiberboard or wood-and finally a bottom
balancing layer that prevents warping.
Why choose laminate over hardwood or
tile?
Laminate is an affordable alternative to
hardwood and tile. Because the image printed on
the paper layer is actually a photograph,
laminate floors truly look like wood, stone, or
other materials and come in a wide range of
colors and patterns. Laminate is becoming
increasingly popular in North America.
